A bit about your Teacher
Experience - Piano Performance and Teaching
As a pianist, I have had lessons from and masterclasses with such great pianists as – Roger Woodward, Piers Lane, Elizabeth Powell, Gordon Watson, Michael Kieran Harvey, Carmel Lutton, Lisa Moore – and love to share what I have discovered from these masters.
I have studied a Diploma of the NSW State Conservatorium of Music (performance) and recently graduated from a Bachelor of Music, as Vice Chancellor’s scholar, focusing on performance, studio teaching, composition and theory. I have studied in Amsterdam, Valencia in Spain, Ochsenhausen in Germany, NSW Conservatorium, Berklee College of Music and the University of New England. I am currently completing a Master of Music at the QLD Conservatorium.
I have played with the Conservatorium and Hunter orchestras and specialise in performing modern Australian piano works both here and overseas.
Experience - Composition and Theory
Recently, Constellations, my piano work was chosen for contestants to play in the 2023 Sydney International Piano Competition. in 2018 I returned from Germany winning the 2018 Joseph Dorfman International Composition Competition.
I have studied composition with Paul Smith, Nigel Butterly, Jan Jirasec, Robert Constable and Ofer Ben-Amots. At Berklee College of Music, in Boston USA, I majored in orchestration and contemporary composition techniques with film composer Ben Newman and amazing composer Marti Epstein.
I won a Berklee Scholarship based on my piano concerto “Rhapsody on a Theme by Gershwin”. I love teaching composition and opening students eyes and ears to the many varied possibilities both with acoustic and electronic instruments. All composition & theory lessons are taught both using paper and computer notation software in my studio. I use Sibelius composition software and Protools as my digital audio workstation with various sound libraries.
